Workshop led by Charlie Windelschmidt - Review

From 17th to 19th March, a dozen students from UBO (Brest University - Master in Culture Management), Institut de GéoArchitecture, EESAB (Brest Fine arts school) and University of Winchester, took part in a workshop held on Brest central square, Place de la Liberté, and led by artistic director Charlie Windelschmidt.

The students worked on a rather innovating concept : the « Sensitive Guides Corporation ».
What’s the idea ? A society of ’sensory guides’ would propose their services, ie a visit of the Place de la Liberté by a guide. The mentor (the guide) would lead the visitor ( the ’guided person’), and make him/her discover hidden places and various angles, focus on smells, sounds, noises, energies...the guide offers their guest this journey and a new way of "looking".

The aim of this particular workshop was to (re) discover the Place de la Liberté and take time to look at the tiny details which altogether make the square. And without it being noticed by the passer-by, like an ’invisible show’.
The students worked for 3 days on a specific protocol, shared between theory indoor and practice outdoor. A discussion with the audience followed the presentation of the students’ experimentation.
