Buí Bolg residency in Brest

The first time le Fourneau and Bui Bolg worked together dates back in August 2011, when the Irish company was involved in the Leonardo Da Vinci programme another European project in which Le Fourneau was involved. Bui Bolg had then created the props for Le Verger, an outdoor event organised by Le Fourneau as part of the well known Britanny-based music Festival des Vieilles Charrues 2012.
Brest Christmas market
In 2013, as part of the ZEPA 2 project and the "touring and residency" strand, Bui Bolg comes back to Le Fourneau to devise and make the decorations for the 2013 Brest Christmas market.
The project idea came following a request from Brest Council to Le Fourneau to reinvent the visual aspect of the market. And Le Fourneau’s response was to bring together the large scale outdoor installations specialists Bui Bolg, with Brest Council Technical services...and a new partnership was set up !
From training to making
Bui Bolg is at Le Fourneau from 14th to 16th October 2013 and again between 18th to 30th November, to deliver training sessions and skills development workshops to staff from Brest Council Green Spaces and Heritage logistics services on the fabrication of outdoor arts installations.
Eight local volunteers also got involved as well as a group of young unemployed from Youth support agency Don Bosco.
The installations can be seen between 29th November to 24th December 2013 at the Xmas market, Place de la Liberté in Brest.
