As part of the ZEPA2 project, Irish company Bui Bolg is working in Brest with Le Fourneau for a long term project : imagining and creating an original scenography to embellish the central Place de la Liberté in Brest where the Christmas Market takes place.
During a whole week, from 19th to 23rd November 2013, Brest Council staff (Green Spaces staff and carpenters), NEETs young people and young people from the Don Bosco association, students from the University of Brest and volunteers, worked together on building the giant props now dressing the Chrismas Market, Place de la Liberté in Brest : clothes of a giant Santa Claus, incommensurable heels, snowflakes in polystyrene, and transformation of the sellers’ chalets in huge presents with red bows...
First step : cuttings, collages, assembling elements according to Bui Bolg’s specific technics with the plastazote foam they are using.
The giant objects built are covered in glue and waterproofing, then we have to wait till it dries...
Assembly and protection of the "chalets-presents" bows.
Then the paint... More waiting for drying !
Come and see this scenography on the Christmas Market of Brest, Place de la Liberté, from 30th November !
